He currently serves as a member of the Maryland State Public Information Act Compliance Board, an oversight body that helps ensure transparency, access to public records, and accountability in government across Maryland.

Johnson has also been appointed to the Judicial Nominating Commission for Cecil, Kent, and Queen Anne’s Counties, where he helps evaluate and recommend candidates for judicial appointments in Maryland’s courts.

Throughout his career, Johnson has remained deeply engaged in civic and nonprofit leadership. His community service includes roles with organizations such as Sumner Hall, the Historical Society of Kent County, the Kent Attainable Housing Project, and other local boards dedicated to preserving history, expanding housing opportunities, and strengthening community life on the Eastern Shore.

With more than a decade of experience in education, nonprofit leadership, and public service, Johnson’s work has focused on empowering young people, preserving community heritage, and ensuring government works for everyday people.

An elevated view of a Maryland Eastern Shore landscape showing a winding two-lane road cutting through gently rolling fields and patches of woodland, symbolizing improved transportation access in District 36. A modern, clean-lined road sign by the shoulder reads “Connecting Communities” in simple, bold lettering, its reflective surface catching soft afternoon light. The sky is bright but slightly overcast, creating diffused, even lighting that reveals texture in the asphalt, grass, and distant farm structures without harsh contrast. Photographic realism with a wide depth of field keeps foreground and horizon in clear focus. The composition uses the road as a leading line, evoking forward motion, connection, and practical infrastructure investment.
